Congratulations to Blathnaidh Colhoun who has recently achieved Elder Mediation International Certification (Cert EM).

Blathnaidh Colhoun is an Elder Mediator and Conflict Management Coach.  She qualified with the Mediation Foundation of Ireland while still working in education.  She is a member of the Mediators’ Institute of Ireland (Mii).  She chose to specialise in Elder Mediation because of her belief in the benefit to families of mediating with their Elder and other family members, especially, at times when hard decisions must be made.

Since 2019, Blathnaidh has volunteered with Community Law and Mediation (CLM) as a mediator and conflict coach.    She has worked as a mentor for CLM since 2024.   She is part of an advisory group in CLM,  which will begin work in 2025 to support a research project into Unmet Mediation Need in Ireland.

Blathnaidh has also volunteered with Dublin Community Mediation (DCM) since 2019.   She joined the Board in 2019 and was appointed chairperson in 2021, serving in the role until 2024.   During her three-year term, she focused on robust governance, compliance and policy development.  Connection with agencies and organisations within the community was prioritised to  further an understanding of mediation and encourage engagement in it.  Working in community mediation has given her an in-depth understanding of the barriers to involvement in mediation as well as the benefits to those who decide to engage.

A former school principal and education office, Blathnaidh has worked in an executive role for much of her professional career.  For further details on her experience and skills, please refer to  https://www.linkedin.com/in/blathnaidh-colhoun
