Dear members,

As EMIN is a professional membership body which holds its certified mediators to a particular standard of professional and ethical conduct, the Board deemed appropriate that EMIN should have transparent, fair and accessible procedures to address issues arising in relation to the conduct and/or professional standards of its members. The EMIN Complaints Policy has been developed in response to this decision. You will find the Complaints Policy on the website at   https://elder-mediation-international.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/EMIN-Complaints-Policy-07-09-18.pdf

The Board also decided that there should be an Appeals Process to allow for an appropriate and equitable avenue of appeal in the event that an individual(s) believe(s) that they were not afforded a fair and reasonable process or where they believe that a sanction was unreasonable in the circumstances. The Appeals Process is also available on the website at https://elder-mediation-international.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/EMIN-Appeals-Process-07-09-18.pdf

On behalf of the EMIN Board, I want to thank the chair of the Ethics Sub Committee, Mags Bouchier and Sub-Committee members Judy McCann Beranger and Colleen Currie for their excellent work on this project. Both documents bear witness to their consummate professionalism and commitment to transparency.

Helen Harnett
